Clothing

Forest School takes place outdoors in all weathers so it is essential children wear clothes that are appropriate for the season. Layers are a good idea so that they can be added and taken off easily, a waterproof coat and waterproof trousers are essential as are sturdy shoes and good socks in winter. Forest School is also outdoor and mucky, so expect your children to return home in a muddy state. In summer a hat and suncream are also a good idea. Please don't send children in in shorts or sandals as they might well be walking through nettles and brambles or climbing trees and the wrong clothes makes this far less fun.

Can I book one-off Forest School sessions?

Sessions have to be booked for a term at a time. Please let me know in advance if you can't make any session, and if you miss three in a half-term period your place will be withdrawn and offered to someone else.

How long is a Forest School session?

The afterschool sessions are two hours. Please be prompt with collecting at 5.30pm.

How many staff are at a session?

There will be myself and two assistants at every session, whether after school or a holiday club. All are DBS checked, and I have full First Aid training.

Is Forest School accessible for children with additional needs?

Many children who struggle in conventional classrooms thrive in the more free and open setting of a Forest School. Please discuss any additional needs with me in advance.

Should my child bring a snack?

Yes, please provide a snack to give children the energy they need for an active session. We will sometimes make food as part of a session, so please make sure any allergies are noted on the registration form. For holiday clubs, please provide a packed lunch and plenty of water to keep children hydrated with all that running around!
